Nasir received an iPhone as a gift while playing in Abu Dhabi T-Ten League. But the matter was not reported to the concerned authorities. The ICC Anti-Corruption and Security Unit-ACSU started an investigation against him in September last year. He was banned from all forms of cricket after admitting to breaching the code of conduct in an investigation.

According to the ICC notification, Nasir was charged by ACSU, for violating three sections of the Anti-Corruption Code. Nasir confessed all the charges. So, this cricketer has been banned for 2 years 6 months. In two years, Nasir will have to comply with various conditions of ICC. If he does so, his punishment will be reduced by 6 months. Then after 18 months i.e., on April 7, 2025 the door of cricket will again be open for him. Otherwise, he will have to serve the sentence for full two years.

According to section 2.4.3 of the ICT Code, Nasir failed to show the receipt of the $750 gift to the ICC-appointed anti-corruption officer, the statement said. As per section 2.4.4, the details of receipt of corruption proposal are not disclosed to the Anti-Corruption Officer. As per Section 2.4.6, he has not assisted the Inquiry Officer without any acceptable reason in the investigation into possible corruption.

The incident mainly revolved around the T-Ten League held in the United Arab Emirates. A total of eight people, including Nasir, were charged for the incident that took place in the 2020-21 season. All of them are associated with the Pune Devils franchise.

It was learned that those who wanted to influence the accused were top and known criminals in ACSU's list. They tried to influence the outcome of the match in the Devils camp. In the end, though, all their efforts are thwarted by ACSU.

That time, Nasir served as the captain of Pune. That was the last time Pune participated in the tournament. Apart from Nasir, who last played for Bangladesh in 2018, the other accused are joint owners Krishan Kumar Chowdhury and Parag Sanghvi, two domestic cricketers Rizwan Javed and Salia Saman, batting coach Asar Zaidi, assistant coach Sunny Dhillon, team manager Shadab Ahmed.

The high-profile name among the accused was 31-year-old Nasir. One of the charges brought against him was that, despite receiving a gift of 750 USD, he did not inform ACSU about it.

One of the allegations against the co-owner Sanghvi was that, he tried to bet on the outcome of the match. One of the charges against Zaidi, Javed and Dhillon was match fixing.

Among the accused, except cricketer Nasir Hossain and team manager Shadab, the remaining 6 were initially banned. At the same time, both of them were asked to respond to the allegations. The Bangladesh all-rounder was finally banned.

Nasir played 115 matches wearing Bangladesh jersey from 2011 to 2018. Besides taking 39 wickets, he scored 2695 runs.

Nasir has been playing domestic cricket since then. He last played in Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League for Prime Bank Cricket Club.

Nasir will get a chance to play international cricket again from April 7, 2025.
